Tracewell's History
Our enabling solutions are based on a long history of innovation and patents covering system design, power architecture, thermal management, backplanes and unique manufacturing techniques backed by superior customer service.
In 1973, Larry Tracewell established Tracewell Enclosures, Inc. to fill a void that existed in the electronics packaging industry and launched the industry’s first line of injection-molded plastic enclosures (357 series). By 1976, Tracewell introduced a unique series of electronic enclosures featuring the integration of die cast aluminum, extrusion and plastic molded parts. Tracewell pioneered the use of conductive plastic in manufacturing a complete line of system enclosures in 1984.
In 1990, Tracewell introduced a proprietary series of VME/VXI/PC backplanes with thru-hole technology. Tracewell Enclosures became Tracewell Systems in 1991.
Tracewell earned the ISO 9001 certification in 1992. To ensure continuing compliance, in addition to periodic audits by our registrar (BVQI), we have internal audit teams who regularly evaluate our adherence to the systems required by the ISO standard.
In 1995, Larry Tracewell successfully launched Tracewell Power, which developed a line of high-quality power solutions. For years Tracewell built the hardware for CompuServe’s network, then in 1995, we acquired CompuServe’s Network Engineering Group. Later that same year, Tracewell built the Third Echelon Test System (TETS) for Mantech, our first large-scale MIL-COTS program. To enhance our manufacturing and engineering capability, we acquired Acme Electric in 2004.
Today, Tracewell offers comprehensive system engineering services, technical solutions and products for both commercial and government applications. Our enabling solutions are based on a long history of innovation and patents covering system design, power architecture, thermal management, backplanes and unique manufacturing techniques backed by superior customer service.
